LEGO Birthday Card

A card for a LEGO fan

This card was fun to make

First I coloured the card with a light blue pastel.
With 4 coloured cardstock ~ Blue, Red, Yellow and Green, I cut 3 squares of each colour. For the raised tops of the Lego blocks, using the top of a felt tip pen for my circles, I drew 4 circles on separate card . Cut them out and with foam pads stuck them on top of the squares.
Finally with a Sharpie I edged each square and circle with the matching colour block.

I felt the card needed something else, so I drew Emmet from The Lego Movie in the middle of the 6.

I edged inside of the card with rectangle blocks in the same 4 colours

For the envelope I went round the edge with a light blue pastel and edged the bottom corner with the rectangles I used inside the card. Then I stamped a balloon image in the middle.

The 6 year old LEGO fan was very happy with his card.

Forever Friends Music Birthday Card

I made this card for a music fan who happens to be a radio DJ.

This decoupage is from a very old DoCrafts Forever Friends Card kit, which is no longer available, I sorry I can't link it.

I doodled a little Radio

I decorated the inside of the card and the envelope with music notes.

This card wasn't being sent in the post so I used the Postage Stamp images Stamp set from Papermania (blogpost to follow) to decorate the envelope.

I'm really happy with the card, I'm enjoying the simple look.
Do you still have or did you own this Forever Friends Craft Kit?

Till next time

Me To You ~ Tatty Bear Birthday Card

Latest Birthday Card using Docrafts Me To You Stamps.

I don't normally stamp straight onto the card but I must've have been feeling very confident. I stamped this Tatty Bear image onto an already embossed Butterfly Card. Using metallic gel pens I highlighted bits of the embossing and stamped a little Butterfly (from the same stamp set) onto the Bears t-shirt.

Inside the card, I also stamped straight onto the card and added a few Butterflies.

When I know the card isn't being sent in the post, I like to decorate the envelopes with the Postage Stamp images Stamp set from Papermania (Blog post to follow).

I'm really happy with this card, I really like the simple look. Maybe I might stamp straight onto the card more often.

Do you like to use stamps? Do you use backing papers or stamp straight onto the card?

Till next time

Motif Peg Bag ~ Crochet

I was going through the many crochet patterns in my Art of Crochet folders for anything I can make to not only use up my yarn stash but use in our home. I stopped on this Motif Peg Bag.

Peg bags remind me of my Nan. Helping my Nan with the washing I would get her Peg bag from the shed and pass the pegs to her. Just seeing the picture brought back so many happy memories. A peg bag will be perfect for our home.

The Colours I chose for the bag are Pink, Grey and White.

The Motifs took a while to do

I edged around the Peg space with Grey yarn

The back of the peg bag is a Granny Square ( very fitting don't you think )

Once the front and back were complete I again used Grey yarn and joined the two together.

For the lining I upcycled one of my Mr's work shirts.

I also used an old wooden hanger.

Final bit was putting the lining and hanger in place and I have my very own Peg Bag.

I'm so happy with it. It's Perfect, if I do say so myself.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. Have you crocheted an item for your home?
Please leave a comment below, I would love to know.

About Me

Hello and welcome to Handmade By Donna

My Name is Donna and I love being creative.

I have always been interested in Craft, growing up, both sides of my grandparents were crafty. I was introduced to sewing, knitting, drawing and painting at a very young age. My first attempt at craft was when my Nan taught me how to knit and I would make clothes for my dolls, which then led me to embroidery and cross stitching.

Then my mum introduced me to scrapbooking and the wonderful world of papercraft. I love journaling and documenting memories.  I have been making Greeting Cards since 2008.

In 2010 I taught myself how to Crochet with the subscription magazines 'Art of Crochet' It was the best decision I have made in crafting. I haven't stopped crocheting since. I love how quickly you can make something out of yarn.

Being Crafty helps with another passion of mine. I love to upcycle and recycle. I don't like to throw anything away (if I can help it). There is a meme somewhere about Crafters are Hoarders. Yes, I agree some of us are. I Love to Fix and Make things, like the BBC show Money for Nothing.

On this little space on the internet, I will share a variety of my craft projects, whether that's an upcycle, papercraft or a needlecraft project. With the occasional product review. Which I will promise to give my honest opinion.

Thank you for taking the time to read about me.

I hope you enjoy my blog and I inspire you to get creative.
